Founded in 1920, Rinnai & Co. first manufactured and sold pressurized oil stoves. By the late 1920s it had already established itself as a trustworthy manufacturer of gas tabletop stoves, gas ovens, gas heaters, and gas hot-water units.

Incorporated as Rinnai & Co. by founders; Hidejiro Naito,

president and Kenkichi Hayashi, president.

Began sales & exports of gas appliances, including tabletop

stoves, gas oven, hot-water units, to domestic gas utilities.

Manufactured aircraft parts as factory supervised by the army.

Resumption of production of gas oil appliances at

Reconstructed Head Office factory

Reorganized as a limited company.

Agreed distribution agreement with Conception Gas Corporation.
Formed technical tie-up with Schott AG in Germany.

Listed on the Second Section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange.

Received Ota Prize from Japan Gas Association for development

of a hot-water heating unit equipped with a safety mechanism

to prevent incomplete combustion.

Received Excellent Technology Prize from Japan Gas Association

as well as the first Chunichi Industrial Technology Award for the

development of an ultra-compact hot-water heating unit.

Established P.T. Rinnai Indonesia.

Established Hong Kong Representative Office.

Opened Tuskuba Research Center.
